We’re one of five elementary schools in the J.O. Combs Unified School District, located in the warm and beautiful San Tan Valley of Arizona. You’ll find our school conveniently located at the southeast corner of Combs & Gantzel Roads. We proudly serve students in kindergarten through 6th grade.
What makes us unique is our “Back-to-Basics” philosophy. Here at Combs Traditional Academy we develop a solid foundation of fundamental and higher-level thinking skills through a structured curriculum that is consistent and sequential throughout grade levels. We deliver curriculum using direct teaching techniques, whole class instruction, and other approved teaching methods. We also plan our teaching and learning around textbooks and written assignments and do not interrupt classes for non-curricular programs or activities.

I am excited to be the new principal at Combs Traditional Academy! As I have been transitioning over, I have had a chance to meet some students, staff, and families. In these connections, I have heard a tremendous pride in what this school does for students. There are systems in place that ensure students are supported academically as well as socially and emotionally. These systems are not dependent on any one person, but rather are part of the culture here at CTA. I happily accept the responsibility of making sure we continue to have high expectations for the educational experience we offer our students.
For those that I have not had the opportunity to meet yet, I look forward to meeting with you. The partnership between family and school is important. So please feel welcome to come in, volunteer, attend events, and be part of this wonderful community.
I could not have hoped to join a better school community than J.O. Combs and I am very impressed with both the district and CTA. I look forward to observing students as they live by the motto of Rigor, Responsibility, and Respect. In the meantime, I wish you a safe and relaxing summer.
